After nearly sixteen years with Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, our Chief Financial Officer, Ann Hovland, has announced her retirement.
Ann has been a trusted leader, a thoughtful partner, and a careful steward of the Foundation's financial resources through a period of significant growth and evolution. Her leadership has helped keep the Foundation financially strong while advancing our mission and long-term vision.
She also played a key role in aligning our investments with our mission and values, helping Bonfils-Stanton join a growing number of foundations proving that a portfolio can deliver strong financial performance and advance community impact at the same time.
Beyond her financial expertise, Ann has been a generous mentor, a collaborative partner, and a deeply valued member of our team. We are grateful for all she has given the Foundation and wish her the very best in this next chapter.
"Ann has brought exceptional financial expertise, unwavering dedication, and a deep commitment to our mission, our team, and the community we serve," said James-Allan Holmes, President and CEO. "I’m especially grateful for her partnership during my transition into the CEO role and for the generosity with which she shared her knowledge and perspective. She leaves a lasting legacy, including her leadership in advancing our impact investing work, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation. She will be dearly missed, and we wish her every joy in this next chapter."
Ann will remain with the Foundation through the transition to support smooth onboarding for her replacement.
"Working in philanthropy is both a unique responsibility and a great privilege. Throughout my time at Bonfils-Stanton, I've been inspired by nonprofit leaders who do so much to support our community. I've also been fortunate to work with exceptional Trustees and Investment Committee members who have generously shared their wisdom while faithfully upholding the Foundation's mission and values, as well as talented colleagues—past and present—whose collaboration, support, and thoughtful challenges have made this work deeply meaningful. I'll be forever grateful for the opportunities I've had and the relationships I've built." - Ann Hovland
As we celebrate Ann's retirement, we're beginning the search for our next Chief Financial Officer, someone who can build on the foundation she's laid and help lead the next chapter of our financial stewardship and mission-aligned investing.
